7 Oscars 2018 Hair Looks You Need To See

It’s that time of year when the Academy announces Best Picture (and sometimes gets it wrong and then re-announces Best Picture), meaning all your favourite celebrities walked the red carpet earlier today. What stood out on the 2018 Academy Awards walkway were a myriad of hair looks that piqued our interest for their detail, their class or their uniqueness. As such, we’ve rounded up 7 that caught our eye for various reasons – meaning there’s scope for you to take back to your salon or the set.

Which 2018 Oscars hair looks are your favourites?

1. Lupito Nyong’o

An interesting up style was made even better with a simple but effective gold thread. Lupita’s recent film, Black Panther, won acclaim for prioritising African hair textures and styles, here Lupita retains her trademark texture with an elegant sense of Old Hollywood.

2. Danai Gurira

Lupita’s Black Panther cast mate exuded the same theme, with a closely shaved head embellished with a glittering silver hair tattoo. What else can we say but ‘Wakanda forever’?

3. Jennifer Lawrence

It was a simple look but a head full of perfect waves and some string eye makeup took JLaw truly back to the 70s. You can thank Wella Professionals for the perfect commercial style your clients will be requesting – picture included – at your salon tomorrow.

4. Margot Robbie

Margot turned her much loved lob into a bob, cutting off several inches from her hair and reminding your clients why short hair is just so on trend, now and always.

5. Andra Day

In case you couldn’t tell that Andra was going for a floral look as per her flower print dress and flower shaped earrings, she embellished her voluminous hair look with actual flowers that stayed remarkably in place. Hats off for doing something a little different.

6. Zendaya

Zendaya’s Oscar hair looks usually cause headlines (her dreadlock look stands out in our minds), and this year she made waves for simplicity. A sleek top knot is just as acceptable at home watching Netflix as it is on the red carpet, it turns out. Remember this unique take next time it comes to formal season.

7. Kelly Marie Tran

Her Cinderella-esque look was a far cry from the battle scenes of Star Wars, and Kelly Marie’s up style won for sheer detail and elegance. Looking simply fresh-faced from the front, the deceivingly complex look twisted, braided and clipped the hair at the back to achieve the up style.

Until next year…
