We all know hair and fashion go hand in hand, so when celebrities are showing up in their most Avant Garde fashion creations (Rihanna’s floral ensemble and Katy Perry’s all-encompassing veil are proof of that), out-there hair is sure to follow. This year the 2017 Met Gala provided bold hues, all new celebrity hair cuts, unique textures and some real hair intrigue on the red carpet. Here are 8 looks you need to see at this year’s event, ensuring you’re totally up to date.

1. Karlie Kloss

Karlie has gone short with an all-new (lighter) bob! The model teased the look on Snapchat pre-event, setting social media into overdrive, and made a chic statement on the Met Gala front steps with her new look. Clients, take note!

2. Zendaya

We’re all in when it comes to natural texture shaking up the red carpet, and Zendaya’s free-flowing, voluminous curls merge wild and elegant aesthetics seamlessly.

3. Cara Delevingne

After cutting off all her hair last week, Cara Delevingne took her new look to the final frontier, with a futuristic, embellished, silver style. Certainly one of a kind.

4 and 5. Kylie Jenner and Donatella Versace

After being neon green and purple at Coachella, Kylie Jenner once again lands a spot on our hair round-up, with this more understated but suitably new platinum bob. Donatella Versace, at her side, instead flew the neon flag for the pair, with bright yellow highlights that doubled down on her all yellow look.

6. Jayden Smith

Ok, lots of celebrities cut their hair, but how many take the remnants as their red carpet date?! Jayden Smith carried his once-famous dreadlocks (which he – clearly – cut a few weeks ago) down the Met Gala walkway and we honestly don’t know what to say as a response.

7. Rita Ora

This interesting short hair look from Rita Ora is so slick it looks painted on. Hairdresser César DeLeön Ramirez, who created the look, has since revealed that it took three days to make and was meant to evoke an ‘art piece on the head’, using artfully constructed platinum hair pieces.

8. Lily Collins

Lily Collins is channelling Cleopatra with this super-short, dark bob. The look is much shorter for the singer (she’s been rocking a brunette lob of late), and whether it’s a wig or not, it’s an unusual length we think your clients could enjoy.
