In collaboration with celebrated Australian artist Ken Done, Romance Was Born debuted their Resort ’23 collection ‘Done Zone’ at the artist’s namesake gallery in The Rocks in Sydney. As expected the show was a colourful masterpiece, with Romance Was Born’s signature explosive palette and patterns. ghd and Schwarzkopf Professional added to this incomparable aesthetic as hair partners, writes Ashleigh Matheson.
The collection brings to life Done’s carefree and lively spirit, and Romance Was Born’s renowned extravagance and artistic beauty. The collection also featured details by Studio A’s resident artisan and weaver extraordinaire Adam Mandarano.
The makeup maintained a similar boldness and intensity as the collection, and the hair looks were just as fun. Led by hair director Dee Parker Attwood with co-director Jason Fassbender, the runway saw a series of sleek, chic hairstyles which she explained were “very much about understated, but beautiful, polished and styled hair”.
Integral products for the show’s hair looks were Schwarzkopf Professional’s Miracle 15, Hairbody, Sparkler, and The Strong Session Label.
“It’s all about a wet finish, so we’re using Miracle 15 to prep the hair, and we’ve been using Hairbody as well to saturate the hair combined with water. We’ve also been using Sparkler to create the really shiny, glossy finish,” Dee said.
Echoed throughout all aspects of the show, Romance Was Born’s ‘Done Zone’ was a lively celebration, channeling the spirit and beauty of Australia’s natural beauty and cultural landscape.
