Held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Aje proudly presented their Resort 23 collection ‘Sculptura’, which was complemented by sleek, wet looks by hair partner O&M, writes Ashleigh Matheson.
“In an ode to the eternal dance between human, landscape, and art, ’Sculptura’ encapsulates a place where art, the body, and nature entwine,” the fashion brief read.
In a desire to create a sense of masculine femininity, Aje opted to partner with sustainable hair brand O&M. Hair director John Pulitano explained, “we wanted to create a beautiful, sexy, looking woman, but with a kind of edge.”
Embodying the Aje girl through the hair, John wanted to ensure that the hair exuded a sense of confidence and strength, without being too commercial.
“All the clothes are so pretty, colourful, and layered, so it was about creating that slightly grungier texture in the roots,” John said. “We didn’t want that real hardness of gel that looks so wet, but more of a satin texture in the roots, going into their natural texture in the back.”
Key products in creating the dual texture hair look were O&M’s Atonic Thickening Spritz, Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray, C-paste, and lastly Frizzy Logic Shine Serum.
