Iordanes Spyridon Gogos debuted its show-stopping Resort 23 collection on May 12 at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW), with a fascinating and alluring display of colourful, printed garments and hair looks by Wella, writes Ashleigh Matheson.
The first show to ever be held at The Powerhouse Museum in its 142 year history, the ethereal collection worked to present Gogos’ interpretation of the museum, proving the perfect backdrop for the extravagant event.
“Utilising hairpieces and wigs, the fantastical hairstyles celebrate colour, vibrancy and eccentric expression,” the hair brief read.
Inspired by Helen of Troy, hair director Renya Xydis worked to create innovative and playful hair looks to appropriately complement the show, with looks she described as “eccentric wearable art”.
“This is not your typical show – it’s an installation of hair art in a sustainable way by the reuse of hair to create amazing and eccentric wearable art,” Renya shared.
“I’ve been able to tune in to the creative side of my brain, which has led me into the innovative side of editorial,” she continued. “I’ve tunnelled into Jordan’s vision without going too far out of the brief by adapting a lot of colour and unique pieces to the hair.”
Essential products included Wella’s EIMI Mistify Me Strong Hair Spray and EIMI Glam Mist.
Pure artistry, diversity, creativity and hair and fashion magic on the runway.
