Sam James-Cockrayne, salon director of ORBE in North Adelaide, has been announced as one of three finalists in the Telstra Young Businesswomen’s Award for 2016, writes Tam Allenby.
It is exciting news for the South Australian salon industry, with the winner to be announced at a gala dinner at the Adelaide Oval on September 30.
“The Telstra Businesswomen of the Year Awards are held in such high esteem, it’s an absolute thrill and so incredibly rewarding to be selected as a finalist,” Sam said.
“I am extremely proud of all the creative awards I have won, as it means I am among the cutting edge in the field of hairdressing- but it’s a complete honour and a dream come true to now be recognised for professional excellence as one of SA’s top businesswomen.”
Past winners of the award include many of Australia’s most talented business leaders and truly remarkable women whose achievements help inspire business people around the country.
2016 has been a stellar year for Sam and her team at ORBE on O’Connell Street in leafy North Adelaide.
They won this year’s National Visionary Hairdresser Award, were national finalists in the AHIA’s Salon Newcomer Business of the Year, and most recently were publicly voted as Adelaide’s best hair and beauty salon in the prestigious 2016 City Awards.
The Telstra nomination cements Sam as one of the hair and beauty industry’s rising talents. Keep an eye on her in 2017- we’re expecting big things.
