Re-branded as the All Star Challenge, Australian American Crew fanatics again lead the way to an international platform of definitive men’s style at Melbourne’s Docklands on Sunday November 25.

Australian Award winner Sofia Azorakos

Underpinned by good looking men and even better hair, American Crew has a long relationship with men’s grooming, one that’s notoriously boosted by the globe’s most prestigious grooming awards into a fame inducing platform of style.

The heavyweights of our industry from across the country transformed Peninsula at Docklands into a hairdressing fraternity, celebrating men’s style in a room filled with hundreds of  the sharpest men’s cuts and appreciation for a market sector that continues to grow exponentially.

Culture Editors Award winner Moet Tiry

Led by GQ Editor in Chief, Nick Smith with presentations throughout the night by Arthur Galan from AG, London Management’s Oliver Cavana and Culture Magazine’s Jenny Burns and Hayley Miller.

Established in 2005, the competition went global for the first time in 2013 and we have Australian Distributor of American Crew, Ozdare corporation to thank for the creation of such a celebrated men’s platform.

With a trend towards thick and textured hair that heralds height and the functional fade, men’s hairdressing continues to be about precision and polish with a looser and softer texture to the mad men sleek. A trend which globally will see a competitive field of play for the international finals in 2014.

Sofia Azorakis of Sogo Hair (VIC) was crowned the 2014 All Star Challenge Winner for her masculine and sleek winning entry and as with every American Crew competition, all entries were judge anonymously on the model’s tapered hairline, fashion relevance, quality of the photography and model selection.

It’s the second time time Sofia has won the coveted award and she scored herself an all-expenses paid trip of a lifetime to compete at the 2014 Global All Star Challenge event in Europe, inclusion in the 2015 American Crew Style Selector and an invitation to be part of the 2015 American Crew show. In addition to this, several media opportunities and photoshoots will follow the event and culminate in a total prize pool of $50,000.

“Winning the first time was amazing; winning a second time is just unbelievable. No words can describe this feeling, I’m just elated. The look I created was very American Crew – masculine, strong and aesthetically beautiful,” Sofia said.
