Dr Shammi Theesan has come up with a solution to hair loss that restores confidence without the downtime, ensuring your best asset as a professional remains the crowning glory for both you and your client, writes Cameron Pine.
Dr Shammi Theesan, founder of ODE Dermatology in Melbourne has been refining her scope on hair loss and restoration for over 11 years. Whether clients are looking to save what you have, prevent further loss or grow new, it’s little wonder the Dr Shami Hair Protocol is causing a buzz on social media. Previously exclusive to her Melbourne clinic, the Dr Shami Hair Protocol can now be accessed in her Sydney based location and is the perfect opportunity for clients who need a customised solution for hair restoration.

Dr Shammi has distilled her gene expression and cell biology studies from her time at Harvard University into an injectable solution that targets over 65 different hair conditions related to hair loss and hair thinning. This injectable ‘protocol’ goes beyond traditional oral medications, topical creams or invasive surgeries and is designed to stimulate the transition of hair follicles from their dormant phase to the active growth phase by activating the cell signaling pathways that play a key role in hair regeneration. Dr Shammi refers to the protocol as, “A bespoke curated cocktail of patented epidermal growth factors that are injected directly into the base of your stem cells to push the hair into the growth phase.” This revolutionary protocol is quick, can be performed in a standard appointment time or lunch break and with no downtime and is an achievable effective solution for both male pattern baldness and female hair thinning as the cocktail contains amino acids and peptides (signalling molecules) to target the areas that are thinning. It’s suitable for individuals of all ages, including children and adults, and those with unique considerations such as compromised skin or immune systems.
Unlike oral or topical prescription medications that are intended for indefinite use the ‘protocol’ is performed across two sessions spaced 3 months apart.
“The idea is that with two sessions, three months apart we are forcing your own follicles to into a growth phase,” Shammi added. A follow up session at 12 or 24 months may be desired however not always necessary. The efficacy of treatment longevity is powered by a potent DHT-5 enzyme blocker that is injected directly into the scalp. DHT-5 is one of the main causes for hair loss. DHT-5 is an enzyme derived from testosterone that attacks the hair follicle leading to thinner, shorter hair and eventually contributing to hair loss.

This protocol helps to prevent further loss while stimulating growth directly at the root of the hair. “Testosterone converts into DHT-5, this is the enzyme responsible for MPP or FPT. Within the protocol, we can block that enzyme from attacking the hair. Unlike oral prescription medications the molecule size of this enzyme blocker is so large it can’t transfer into your block stream, meaning reduced side effects from treatment and for men little to no fear of reduced libido or general lethargy,” Dr Shammi explained. Moreover, it doesn’t just stop at the one appointment Dr Shammi also cites that, “in combination to this are some oral medications on the market that can compliment the effects of this treatment this will be discussed in your initial consultation.”

While this type of therapy is not new, the science behind it is cutting edge. Many people turn to PRP or in more recent times exosome therapy to try to reverse the loss or thinning, yet these modalities can often be less than effective for a number of reasons. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is solely reliant on the quality of your own blood to stimulate growth. Many people are lacking or deficient in necessary vitamins and minerals to deliver truly platelet rich plasma which can often result in poor outcomes. The latest addition is exosomes, these are cells that contain growth factors and proteins to help stimulate cell renewal. The issue with these Dr Shammi explains is without signaling molecules the exosomes don’t know where to go and therefore it is not a targeted treatment, “Amino acids and peptides are key in delivering the results of the growth factors,” Dr Shammi adds. An added benefit of this protocol is the anti-inflammatory actives help to restore scalp health as well, meaning that optimum scalp health will always result in better hair condition.
Dr Shammi highly backs and entrusts that that this treatment plays into the space of ‘Bio Hacking’ and ‘Epigenetics’ based upon the fact it can be performed on clients who have full healthy heads of hair and want to keep it that way, “Prevention is always better than cure,” Dr Theesan says.
With rising success both online and in-clinic Dr Shammi has successfully transformed 1,800 clients lives with significant hair restoration results, “60 per cent achieved significant results, 30 per cent observed notable improvements, 10 per cent reported more modest changes, and overall across the board there was noted a 40 per cent enhancement in hair count, thickness, density, texture, and overall hair health.” This treatment is suitable for almost everyone inclusive of breastfeeding clients who are struggling with postpartum hair loss and teens, so now’s the time to elevate your hair restoration referrals with both a Melbourne and Sydney clinic available.
