With three different editions and a myriad of sleek designs available, Apple’s announcement of the new Apple Watch sees it go from a mere technological must-have to a genuine fashion statement.
Unveiled by Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook, the smart watch will be have access to apps, email, text messages, health monitoring and payment capabilities. It will also come with the choice of silver stainless steel and space black stainless steel cases and a number of different band options, including three different leather bands, a link bracelet, a Milanese loop or high-performance fluoroelastomer band. The display screen will be protected by sapphire crystal. The watch face comes in sizes of both 1.5 and 1.65 inches and the product comes in three editions of regular Watch, Watch Edition and the lighter-weight Watch Sport.
The watch has several new systems of communication, including digital touch, walkie-talkie capabilities and its own system of animated emojis. It will work with both iPhone 5 and 6 models and will be charged by a cord that links magnetically to the back of the watch body.
Given a release date of early 2015 in the US with Australian dates still yet to be announced, Apple’s first foray into wearable technology is set to change not just the face of technology, but fashion too.
