An illustrious group of men’s hair pioneers have joined forces to bring you the essential Barber Hub at the Hair Festival MarketPlace. AREA Academy, in support of The Jack Reed Foundation and in collaboration with The Barber Academy, Dyson & Motion, will host this important space on the Hair Festival floor of innovations. The MarketPlace is completely free to register for and enter, making this an even more unmissable opportunity.
AREA Academy is an up-skilling facility based in Melbourne that offers tailor-made educational experiences based around personal development. The institution proudly delivers an unconventional, conscious and holistic approach to hair education, which pushes the boundaries around men’s hair in order to blur the lines between hairdressing and modern barbering. Within these bold endeavours, the team has a variety of awards to its mantle, and contains current and two-time Barber of the Year and FAME Team member Leigh Winsor, as well as Dyson’s first ever men’s hair ambassador Eoin McCarthy.
AREA Academy is teaming up with The Jack Reed Foundation in delivering the Barber Hub. The two organisations have a longstanding relationship and showcase how collaboration can even help the less fortunate. The teams have run a series of events over the past two years called RE:CONNECT that help raise funds and awareness around the initiatives of The Jack Reed Foundation. The foundation creates opportunities that transform lives, with their 99 New Beginnings platform, which offers underprivileged youth from disadvantaged areas life-changing and fully-funded apprenticeships. This creates a sustainable pathway into the industry and opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. As facilitated by AREA Academy, The Barber Academy educates these students from on-site shipping containers in Brisbane, training them and giving them a scholarship pathway to a Certificate III in Barbering.
At Hair Festival these groups will all highlight these essential relationships and, with the support of Dyson and Motion, will be doing live haircutting demos all weekend long. They’ll also have a raffle of prizes to support the cause. At the Barber Hub, AREA Academy will also be announcing a new project aimed at giving the next generation of ambitious, promising hairdressers a platform for both work and education.
With free entry, inspiring demos and an even more inspiring causes focused on collaborating within the industry and truly helping others, the Barber Hub at Hair Festival will have so much on offer to stop by, learn something, delve into these important organisations, network, win prizes and even make a difference. Don’t forget to come say hello!
