Aveda Australia raises over $50 000 for Earth Month

Aveda Australia has contributed considerably to a cause it feels passionate about, the protection of clean water. The brand conducted a number of charity events which raised over $50 000 to be given to Aveda’s local charity partner, WaterAid Australia. Globally, the proceeds generated from Earth Month earned $5.5 million dollars this year and have produced $32 million internationally since the effort started in 1999.


Aveda took to the runway to support the environment

Aveda’s environmental commitments are a cause close to the brand’s heart. Developmentally, it creates its products with the principles of green science, employing botanically based products and a facility which utilises 100% wind power in an effort to offer sustainable products, packaging and production. The funds from Earth Month all go towards global environment projects.

This year, Earth Month in Australia has hosted a number of exciting events. Subiaco’s Element Aveda Lifestyle salon conducted a Catwalk-For-Water fashion event, which showcased the collections of local and international designers in front of 200 guests. Sulis House of Lush in Byron Bay held a Cut-A-Thon, through which 50% of all profits were donated to the campaign.

A national event, entitled Aveda Walks for Water, had salons Australia-wide hosting a 6km walk that represented the distance Indian women in the Umbari Village had to travel for clean water on a daily basis. This has since been aided by Aveda’s charitable donations. The events were held at Sydney’s Cremorne Point, Melbourne’s St Kilda Beach, Kalumunda in Perth and South Australia’s Barossa Valley, showing the unity of national Aveda salons in the fight against environmental struggles.

A further $25 000 was raised through the sale of the Aveda Light The Way Candle, which was made out of recycled materials and the funds of which were completely donated to the cause.

Aveda’s environmental spirit pervades the very essence of its business regime, which considers the environment in every step of its development process. However, Earth Month took it up a notch, holding a number of fashion and styling events in the charitable aid of the earth’s clean water, a positive output of the Australian hair care industry.
