Aveda have partnered with Take 3 for the Sea for the second year in a row. The plant-powered hair care brand with a mission of care and environmental leadership announced their new partnership last January with a goal to stop plastic pollution to protect our environment.
The partnership is of huge significance with Aveda’s mission statement to ‘care for the world we live in’ perfectly aligned with Take 3’s commitment to stopping and solving plastic pollution.
Since 1999, Aveda has made an incredible impact through annual Earth Month campaigns, raising over $60 million for environmental causes around the world. In turn, for more than a decade Take 3 has been committed to reducing global plastic pollution through education that inspires participation, international campaigns and clean ups.
Sustainability has always been deeply rooted in Aveda’s DNA and preserving and protecting water resources like our ocean have been fundamental to the brand for decades. For Take 3, the simple message to take three pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach or waterway to make a difference has sparked a global movement that encourages everyone to get involved and help protect our oceans from plastic pollution.
Aveda has been cruelty-free since it was established in 1978 and in January of 2021, it removed all animal by-products from its formulas to become 100 per cent vegan, one of the brand’s proudest achievements when it comes to its eco-friendly efforts.
In celebration of the partnership Aveda hosted a Take 3 X Aveda movie night in April to invite 200 guests to a screening of The Lost City to continue to spread the word of Take 3 and Aveda’s on-going partnership raising $5,000 on the night.
For Aveda and Take 3 for the Sea raising awareness and forming this partnership is more important than ever with plastic entering the ocean. By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, with an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic entering the ocean every year.
Aveda Teams, salons and guests will continue to raise awareness to fundraise $100,000 during the STOP Ocean Plastic Pollution Fundraiser and help Take 3 work with education, social and community groups nationwide to remove 1.5 million pieces of rubbish from our environment.
Those wanting to be a part of the change with Aveda can easily donate anywhere from $5 up. For every $10 raised, 15 pieces of rubbish are removed from the environment, so a little can go a long way. Participants and salons can also create their own supporting fundraiser, as well as offer or purchase a limited-edition scrunchie trio, with 100 per cent of the proceeds being donated to Take 3 for the Sea.
