Aveda Wins Sustainability Leadership Award

Aveda have cemented their place as the pinnacle of sustainable beauty practices, winning a Sustainability Leadership Award at the Sustainable Beauty Awards (conducted by Ecovia Intelligence) in Paris, earlier this month.

Hosted at the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysées, the awards recognise brands and organisations that are innovating sustainability throughout the entire beauty sphere. This is broken down into five categories, which, combined, received over 100 entries globally. These categories were listed as Green Formulations, Sustainable Packaging, Sustainable Ingredients, Sustainability Pioneer, and Sustainability Leadership, with the leadership award covering sustainability in a multitude.

“This award means a lot to all of us at Aveda – it’s an honour to be recognised for our commitment to caring for the world we live in,” shared Barbara De Laere, Global General Manager and SVP of Aveda. “The Aveda mission has never been more relevant than it is today, and we want to continue to set an example and to push the bar for environmental responsibility. Hopefully others in the beauty industry – and beyond – will join us in living the importance of sustainability in the way we do business.”

This honour was well deserved for Aveda, who continue to revolutionise sustainability in beauty by prioritising green formulations, sustainable packaging and ingredients, socially conscious customer-supplier partnerships, and clean energy for manufacturing. The brand, founded by Horst Rechelbacher 40 years ago, creates hair, skin and body products that put the planet front of mind. Key sustainable strategies include the Earth Month philanthropic endeavour that has raised $56 million since 1999, being the first beauty company to manufacture with 100 per cent wind power in its primary facility (and now in the production of all of their products) and much more.
