The national cabinet has removed the 30-minute hairdressing rule for national salons, in their developing response to COVID-19.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison released a statement this morning saying hairdressers and barbers can spend more than 30-minutes with patrons providing they adhere to the one person per four square metres for indoor gatherings rule. They are also expected to minimise contact wherever possible.
This change comes after the cabinet received feedback based on the “practical implementation” of the previous restriction.
Many salons were forced to close their doors due to the 30-minute restrictions, with colour, most haircuts and other major services impossible within this time frame.
