To recognise the graduation of Australia’s first group of hairdressers to complete the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Hairdressing Leadership, an evening of creativity, colour and drama was held at the Heath Ledger Theatre in Perth on Sunday 3rd November 2013.

The graduation was hosted by the Central Institute of Technology with the opening address by Managing Director, Neil Fernandes who in conjunction with the Retail and Personal Services Training Council and Aldo Muia, recognised this as being worthwhile and complimentary to Central Institute of Technology’s reputation of delivering high-quality educational programs.

Over 360 industry representatives and friends of students attended to witness the incredible international standard hair show presentations with individual and creative themes.

Recently introduced, the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Hairdressing Leadership is the highest hairdressing qualification available in Australia. The qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills in determining and leading the future of the hairdressing industry.

The roles include creative or artistic directors who work for larger hairdressers, a hairdressing products company, or independently as a freelance session stylist providing technical and creative leadership training and support to colleagues, and the industry at a national and international level.

They must have the ability to acquire and use a broad knowledge and the identification, analysis and evaluate information from a variety of sources to build and develop innovative and creative thinking for the industry.
