The Dyson Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer will be available for consumer sale this year, after its professional launch in 2024. The tool will be available in exclusive Jasper Plum and Ceramic Pink colourways, as announced at the brand’s flagship Dyson Demo Store in Paris by Sir James Dyson, the brand’s founder and Chief Engineer, and Kathleen Pierce, Dyson Beauty President, this week.
The Dyson Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer wowed hairdresser as a 30 per cent smaller, 20 per cent lighter and more manoeuvrable tool, in its unique “r” shape. Since the launch, the tool has been essential backstage for such hairdressing pioneers as Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman and Lacy Redway, while the brand is currently partnering with Chloé to use the tool backstage at A/W25 PFW, after having styled shows such as Chloe, Stella McCartney and Issey Miyake last year.

The tool is beloved for its precision, comfort, three airflow settings and five attachments. It also uses integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors to deliver optimal airflow and temperature, making it a strong choice for your clients. The tool has been described as a “magic wand” by session stylist Anthony Turner, speaking to its original design.
Building on the consumer potential of this tool, Dyson is also launching its Styling Menu in Select Dyson Demo Stores globally, where consumers can explore trending styles and learn how to create them with the tool. The “Styled with r” campaign is starting with five signature looks that will update, as curated from trend predictions by Dyson’s more than 50 Global Styling Ambassadors. The first five styles are the textured wave bob, S-shaped curls, sleek straight, halo curls and soft twist outs.

“It will be updated every season with looks created using different machines, ensuring fresh and iconic styles are at the forefront of our education programme for customers in-store and online. Appointments with stylists are bookable at the Dyson website, taking skills from the backstage to the front row, to you, at home,” explained Dyson’s Head of Global Education, Amy Johnson.
“Dyson engineers are passionate about researching and designing products with cutting-edge technology for diverse hair types. Our stylists in Dyson stores, as well as our Professional Styling Ambassadors around the world, are excited to help you learn the skills to look and feel at the top of your game,” she added.
