Eleven Australia are back with their annual charity event, rallying hairdressers and salons around an important cause for one significant day of the year. Style For Life Day is conducted in conjunction with, and in aid of, Hagar, a charity that fights to end slavery around the world. Salons will open their doors on Sunday July 31st to cut and style as many clients as possible, donating 100 per cent of the profits raised on that day to this important charity.
This year’s campaign is again led by Hagar patron and celebrity Rachel Griffiths and ELEVEN Australia co-Creative Director Joey Scandizzo. In 2016, the pair will be joined by two new ambassadors, footballer Travis Cloke and model Elyse Knowles.
“The United Nations estimates that over two million people will be sold into slavery every year,” Rachel shared. “By taking part in Style for Life Day Australians can truly transform the lives of women and young people in nearby countries like Cambodia, Vietnam and Afghanistan.”
Last year 55 participating salons raised a combined $59, 000 for the cause, taking the initiatives total toll to $118, 000. These funds go towards sponsoring women through Hagar’s Economic Empowerment Program. This provides women who have been through these ordeals with skills including hairdressing, giving them the independence and economic opportunity to create a better life for themselves and their families after slavery.
“Having seen first-hand the positive impact the money raised from Style for Life Day has had on these brave women makes me proud of our industry,” Joey shared.
About 15 salons from around the country have already signed up, and you can add your salon’s name to the list by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let’s all rally around an important cause!
