ELEVEN Australia raised $38,132 in support of not-for-profit organisation Hagar in their Style for Life initiative. Held on Sunday the 17th of August, dozens of Australian salons donated the profits from their daily services to the cause, which helps in the fight against slavery and human rights violations in Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Afghanistan.

“I recently visited Cambodia and I had the opportunity to get to know some of the women and children that Hagar is working with, so I got to witness first-hand how ELEVEN Australia is making a difference to their lives. It’s really humbling,” said ELEVEN Australia Co-Creative Director, Joey Scandizzo. “With the support of the public and our incredible salons, we’re thrilled with the amount raised this year and look forward to helping Hagar continue their inspiring work.”
The funds will go directly to women and children who have survived the abuse of their human rights, financing education, counselling and career training opportunities that will be paramount to their future. These opportunities include a Hagar-led Career Pathways program in hairdressing, which consists of work readiness and vocational training, employment placement and two years of follow up case management. Last year the funds supported 40 survivors in this program, a number expected to grow dramatically through the additional funds raised this year.

“It’s so fantastic how many hairdressers are embracing the work Hagar does, giving up their Sunday to donate much-needed funds to Hagar’s programs in Cambodia, Afghanistan, Vietnam and Myanmar,” said actress and Hagar Australia Ambassador, Rachel Griffiths. “Partnering with ELEVEN Australia has helped us raise the awareness of Hagar’s essential work, with Style for Life Day going from strength to strength each year.”
Raising in excess of $17, 000 more than last year’s inaugural output, the now annual Style for Life day continues to grow thanks to the initiative of Hagar and ELEVEN Australia and the generosity of hairdressers nation-wide. Well done to all who contributed their time, funds and efforts to this noble cause.
