The stakes are high in Paul Mitchell’s first ever professional colour competition, Color Outside The Lines. Colourists from around the world are invited to show off their skills in order to go in with a chance to win the title, prizes and bragging rights. You better hurry, as entries close on April 29,
Entering is simply. Jump online and download the entry form from this link. From there you can choose to emulate one of two inspirational mood boards.
Mood Board A is named Charming Illusions, and includes soft blends of colour and fluid transitions. Pastels, neutral tones and pops of colours make up the palette; think graying pinks, faded purples, lime golds and more. Mood Board B, titled Graphic Block, is comprised of bold geometric shapes, sharp, defined and precise contrasts, and strong graphics that contribute to the modern feel. Binary black and white tones mixed with vibrant hues such as magenta, yellow, bright green and electric blue convey this statement.
Entrants are advised to keep these mood boards in mind when creating their submission, and showcase the concept in everything from the hair to the nail polishes, poses, props and finer details. 70 per cent of the judging will focus on hair colour technique, colour choices and how the colour complements the cut and style, while 30 per cent will look at overall vision, creativity and your interpretation of the brief.
After creating your final image, send a completed entry form, the necessary information, head diagrams and images via Wetransfer or DropBox to email@example.com.
Finalists will be announced on May 16 and will present at Paul Mitchell’s Gathering in Las Vegas from August 15 to 16 this year. One Aussie winner will receive a certificate of recognition, be featured on the brand’s national and international websites and receive airfare, three nights of accommodation and a ticket to the Gathering in Las Vegas. The International Winner will receive all that and more, including tools, international media coverage and an on-stage presentation at the Gathering.
