Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. The entries have officially opened for the 25th annual Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFAs), the largest independent celebration of the ultimate in Australian hair, fashion and style, writes Tam Allenby.

Caterina Di Biase wins Australian Hairdresser of the Year at the 2016 AHFAs

The 2016 event was a sell-out. Co-hosted by hairdressing legend Errol Douglas MBE and TV Presenter Scherri-Lee Biggs in front of an audience of 1,000 hairdressers, media and celebrities, it will be back in April next year. With the host still to be announced, the 2017 event promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The 2017 AHFA’s will continue in their aim of propelling the Aussie industry to the forefront of the global stage, showcasing the talent of Australia’s top hair artists.

22 awards are up for grabs, including the sought-after AHFA Hairdresser of the Year – a title taken home this year by the inimitable Caterina Di Biase. Otherwise, you can enter a myriad of state awards, salon titles, business and education categories and more.

The awards will once again partner with global hair fashion leaders L’Oréal Professionel. General Manager Olga Zanetti said they were “honoured” to continue this relationship for another year, and encouraged everyone in the Australian hair community to enter.

“We share a clear vision to provide a platform for artists to creatively and commercially progress their careers and to project an exemplary image of Australian Hair Fashion on a global stage,” she said.

Entries close on Friday the 9th of December at 5pm, and with late entries not being considered, you’d better start sending in your submissions ASAP!

As they say, you’ve got to be in it to win it. Good luck!
