Australian social media users woke up last week to something that seemed more from a Black Mirror episode than actual reality. Facebook had delivered a broad ban on Australian news, meaning national news sites couldn’t post and users can’t see news links shared on their feed or pages. As such, the Styleicons and INSTYLE Facebook page is currently blank.
If you leaned on Facebook to get your hair and salons news, we’re here to tell you how to best follow along with INSTYLE and Styleicons in the wake of the ban. We’ll ensure you never have to miss any vital industry, education, trends, awards and event news, as well as the collections, hairdresser interviews, salon profiles and more, all of which offer inspiration, information and connectivity paramount in the hair industry, especially in these challenging times.
You can find our news on LinkedIn and Twitter, where stories are regularly shared. Our Instagram page is an INSTYLE staple, with more than 30,000 followers who find aesthetic inspiration, real-time event glimpses and news links on our consistently updating Instagram stories.
The best way to make sure you never miss any news is by subscribing to our newsletter, for a twice weekly dose of all the news, videos and stories you need, straight to your inbox. You can also check out each issue of INSTYLE Digital, with additional content that makes each print issue a multi-media platform, right on your screen.
Styleicons looms as an imperative salon industry resource, especially in the uncertain times of 2021. The online title offers vital, relevant and timeous information within a shifting hair industry, events, education and salon landscape.
Within the difficulties of 2020, Styleicons spoke to hairdressers affected at different stages of crucial events, such as Melbourne’s historic lockdown, hearing from the voices that matter and paving a blueprint for this difficult period. As world events keep shifting, Styleicons will continue to cover these events with a salon-specific perspective and from a local and global vantage point.
In the lead up to Hair Festival, Styleicons will continue to offer updates, news and details as soon as they are announced. Keep monitoring the feed so that you never miss a moment in the countdown to this extravaganza of hair, celebrating the hair industry and offering the chance for the salon community to shop, learn, compete and connect.
As a news organisation that is always looking to connect with our readers, we share the frustrations of the broader national media landscape in grappling with the Facebook ban. We hope this will be a temporary restriction but until then, follow along with our other channels, subscribe to our newsletter and never miss a moment of industry news. We hope to remain a regular part of your news consumption and a connector to the national and global hair industry, always.
Update: Facebook have announced that they will reverse the ban in the coming days. Until then, and beyond then, remember to follow Styleicons on your channel(s) of choice to stay fully informed on hair industry news.
