Rows and rows of editorial entries and a room packed full of hairdressers can only mean one thing – the gun has gone off at the starting line and the finalists have been announced for this year’s Hair Expo Awards.
With the industry elite hosted at a cocktail reception in Sydney’s Town Hall, canapés and champagne allowed for a festive atmosphere that will continue right until and through the expo itself. Held on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend from June 11-13 in Melbourne for the very first time, the weekend is being billed as a three-day party. The Welcome Party on the Saturday night, sponsored by Revlon Professional, GenNext Gala on Sunday with enthralling presentations from up and coming talents and, of course, the Hair Expo Awards on the final night, will ensure you’re constantly in celebratory mode.
“There’s an incredible level of excitement associated with the move to Melbourne, the fashion capital of Australia – we’ve been overwhelmed with the sheer volume of initial ticket sales and the interest from many leading global and local brands to participate,” said Julia Erben, Event Director of Reed Exhibitions. These brands include hair, beauty, education and business enterprises such as Schwarzkopf Professional, Wella Professionals, KMS California, Napoleon Perdis, Goldwell, ghd, Revlon Professional, BaByliss, KEVIN.MURPHY, Excellent Edges, Kitomba, Comfortel, Shortcuts, Zing and many others.
Presenting an impressive dichotomy, the expo’s festival atmosphere will be complemented by esteemed education, by international figures such as Guy Trang, Mark Hayes and Peter Gray offered in an intimate, exclusive setting.
“For any hairdresser in Australia, the value of coming to Melbourne for this year’s Expo is simply immeasurable. There is no other event like this anywhere – Hair Expo really delivers world class education, international talent and show-stopping performances in a festival-like atmosphere that is unique to Melbourne,” Julia enthused.
But now, let’s unveil what you’ve all been scrolling for – the finalists at this year’s Hair Expo Awards. Headlined as always by categories of Australian and New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year, and supported by state categories, focus on colour and men’s styling, with nods to emerging stars, session stylists and educators, this is one talented line up.
