If you feel that electricity in the air, we can confirm that it may have something to do with ghd’s electrical tools having an electric pink makeover, all for a cause that can only be described as – for lack of a better word – well, electric.
ghd has launched its annual campaign in aid of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. These annual campaigns spanning more than a decade have raised $18 million for the cause globally, a statistic ghd hopes to increase to $20 million by the 2016 campaign’s end. $4 million of this money has been raised singlehandedly on our shores, specifically for the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Australia.
“Thanks to our amazing million dollar hub partner ghd, and their customers, who are helping to make a real difference by supporting life changing breast cancer research,” said Dr. Sarah Hosking, National Breast Cancer Foundation CEO.
This year, ghd’s pink collection consists of an electric pink ghd air hairdryer, ghd V styler and the newest ghd platinum, all in a vivid, limited edition electric pink hue. $20 from the purchase of each iron, and $10 from the ghd air, will be donated to the charity on your behalf. The tools will also be supported by an important campaign, titled ‘You are not defined by your hair’. With this campaign, the brand is launching a series of beauty tutorials with iconic ghd stylists, focusing on wigs, scarves and beauty, specifically for those going through chemotherapy, and the appearance related side effects that it brings.
The tools were launched to beauty media this morning at Missy French, alongside a delicious breakfast and the requisite pink blooms. After finding out about the importance of the campaign from ghd managing director Ludovic Dellazzeri, the audience heard from Sali Stevanja, an entrepreneur and breast cancer survivor, or, as she puts it, breast cancer fighter, as the fight continuously remains for every person who has been through this terrible disease. Sally’s personal story was truly impactful, putting a face, a life and a story to the terrible statistics, that showcase how breast cancer affects millions of people worldwide.
With Sally’s inspiring words and ghd’s important annual campaign, the hair industry is emboldened to help make a change. Let’s reach that $20 million milestone, while bringing some more electric pink cheer back into the world.
