Iconic Australian Fashion Photographer Graham Shearer is bringing a very personal part of his editorial legacy to Melbourne. In his first Melbourne fine art exhibition, titled ‘A Private Collection’, Graham will showcase a collection of his most famous and intimate images that capture a timeless and pure elegance.
The exhibit opens tonight, the 26th of March, and runs until April 25th at the Eleven40 Gallery in Malvern. The exhibit gives rare insight into Graham’s 30 year career, showcasing fine art images both new and old. One series ‘Eau’ was photographed recently in Western Australia and features the female form suspended in an underwater world. All the images are shot in camera with no digital manipulation, playing with light and contrast to create an alluring visual image.
Graham is known as one of the world’s most sought after fashion photographers, whose career flourished particularly in the 80s and 90s. Graham boasts a client list extending to Elle Macpherson, Nicole Kidman, Tyra Banks, Megan Gale and Rachel Hunter. Images from the start of Elle Macpherson’s modelling career, which Graham helped to launch, are included in the exhibition. Graham’s work has also graced the covers of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Tattler, Elle, Interview magazine and many more.
This exhibit examines the inner workings of his illustrious career, selecting shots that range over decades in the industry and bringing them close to home in Melbourne for the first time. Make sure you check it out.
