300 VIP industry guests gathered in Sydney’s Town Hall on Tuesday night to find out this year’s finalists for the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards. An elegant cocktail reception hosted the hairdressing glitterati, where attendees were told who had it made it through to the finals in the event’s historic 30th year.
An esteemed panel of twenty local and international judges decided the finalists over a grueling two day judging process. The varied awards honour both creative and business talent in the hairdressing industry, recognising stylists both established and emerging.
The finalists in the awards’ top honours, Australian Hairdresser of the Year, are Frank Apostolopoulos from Biba, VIC, Joey Scandizzo from Joey Scandizzo Salon, VIC, Emiliano Vitale from e Salon, NSW and Dmitri Papas from Papas and Pace, QLD.
Finalists in other categories include Sara Allsop and Jock Robson, both from Dharma, for New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year; two-time and reigning Men’s Hairdresser/Barber of the Year, Jules Tognini, in the men’s category, Dario Cotroneo, Lyndal Salmon and Caterina DiBiase for Educator of the Year; and Stevie Corthine and Vincent Noble for Colour Technician of the Year.
Other awards in contention include Apprentice/Student of the Year, New Creative Force, Emerging Hairdresser of the Year and Session Stylist of the Year as well as Best Salon Design, Education Business of the Year, Industry Business Performance of the Year and Salon Business of the Year.
Winners in the 2015 Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards will be announced on the final night of Hair Expo, Monday June 8th 2015, at The Star.
Between the mix of talented stylists and the awards 30th anniversary marking its long serving significance in the industry, we can hardly wait to see who takes home the gold.
