Jackii Brown, female barber and teacher at the Chisholm Institute, was recently named as RTO Educator of the Year at the 2016 Hair and Beauty Industry Association’s (HBIA) Student, Apprentice and Educator awards, writes Tam Allenby.
Jackii is a passionate educator with over 18 years of experience in the industry; her skills have already been on display at Barber Wars and the HBIA Hair Expo in Melbourne earlier this year.
Her workplace, the Chisholm Institute, is a leader in vocational education and training located in southeast Melbourne, and offers more than 400 course across its seven locations.
“It’s refreshing to have passionate staff like Jackii on our team,” says Manager of Chisholm Hair and Beauty Ruth Browne. “We are confident that with strong practitioners like her we will lead the way in barbering training.”
Working alongside Browne and the team at Chisholm Hairdressing, Jackii will drive the Certificate III in barbering and design a curriculum for an intense six month course. This program aims to introduce accredited barbers to the industry.
Jackii is also working on building her profile internationally, and will soon head to New York for a stint at top salon Hair and Co.
Keep an eye out for this rising star.
