The Australian Hairdressing Council (AHC) is once again playing fairy godmother, partnering with the Starlight Foundation to make some wishes come to life. Last year this partnership, and the support of the hair industry at large (thanks, by the way!) garnered a massive $77, 000 raised for the cause in the month of May, granting wishes to eleven sick children. Now, the AHC has vowed to raise the bar once more in 2016.
May will once again be the month dedicated to fundraising, with the 7th of May, otherwise known as Starlight Day, circled in giant red as the main event. Throughout May, salons are encouraged to ask clients for a $1 donation after every service to be added to their bill in order to reach the AHC goal of 20 wishes in 2016, which will cost $130, 000. The AHC will be contacting interested salons in the coming weeks in order to send them everything they need to raise money and awareness for the cause.
May 7th then looms large as a giant day for fundraising, with an Australia-wide pyjama day to be held. The AHC encourages teddy bears, boxers, slippers and onesies to be worn in the salon, inevitably starting a conversation about the Starlight Foundation.
Another collaborative project between these two enterprises is currently in motion, with AHC led pop up salons currently travelling through clinics and hospitals nation-wide, adding some fun, frivolity and beauty to an often bleak medical setting.
If you’ve always had an inkling you’d be well-suited to a wand, this is your chance to make some magic happen. Your salon, in conjunction with your clients, the Starlight Foundation and the AHC can turn some proverbial pumpkins into carriages and make some dreams come true this year.
