The International Hairdressing Awards (IHAs) process marches on, with entries officially closed for the fourth annual competition and the judges named for this 2022 platform. Finalists will next be announced on February 13.
The judging panel consists of legendary international hairdressers, Gun-Britt Zeller from Denmark, Paul Gehring from the Netherlands, Marcel Montlleó from Spain and Sophia Hilton and Richard Thompson, both from the United Kingdom.
The process saw a record number of entries, with almost 500 collections from 38 countries submitted into the categories of Best International Women’s Collection, Best International Men’s Collection and Best International Avant-Garde Collection. This is in addition to hairdressers and artistic teams shortlisted for the prestigious International Hairdresser of the Year and International Artistic Team of the Year categories, invitation only categories that require a photographic collection and presentation of the applicant’s professional career in the last year.
The next stage of the competition will see a finalist announcement on February 13, with a live broadcast online, taking place at the Raffel Pages Hairdressing Museum in Barcelona. Following this, Mikel Luzea, the competition’s director and founder, and Sergi Bancells, global ambassador of the awards, will go on a bona fide hair awards tour, travelling internationally to personally surprise and award the winners, all to be broadcast online and utilised in a docu-reality series on TV. After the tour, the seven winners will be invited to attend the hairdressing awards night in Madrid on May 16, complete with the iconic purple carpet, a runway show and the crowning of the winners.
Good luck to all the entrants!
