Sit yourself in the proverbial front row of Melbourne Fashion Festival, as we gain insight from the fashion week’s hair director Joey Scandizzo, styling for and with Dyson for the inimitable Runway 1 show.
The runway show presented Australian fashion designers whose work encapsulates a covetable, timeless elegance. The show offered the image of refined silhouettes elevated by innovation and capturing a dynamic snapshot of the modern, global woman. Fittingly, the hair look reflected this aesthetic.
Acting as lead stylist for the show, Joey created looks with a natural finish and healthy shine, becoming the picture of wearability as the models emulated the style and vibe of your salon clients. The looks focused on minimalism and softness while creating a tight silhouette, working with Dyson Hair Care technologies to pull hair back into a low ponytail with a slight bend through the mid-lengths to encourage movement and high shine.
In creating these looks, hero tools included the Dyson Corrale™️ straightener and Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer with Styling Concentrator and Flyaway Attachment to finish.
Create this wearable, fashion-forward look with Joey’s direction.
- Create a centre part. After priming the hair with volume foam section by section, comb through for even distribution. Continue to apply and comb through to the ends. To blow-dry smooth, the Dyson Supersonic™️ hair dryer is used alongside the Styling Concentrator attachment followed by a round brush to smooth the hair and straighten it out holding it into a low pony, creating a mirrored shine on the hair.
- Spray with a dry finish way spray. Then do a final brush and pull hair into place. Secure the ponytail and tie off firmly with elastic. Pull elastic tight and cut away excess.
- Run the Dyson Corrale™️ straightener through the hair to create an S-bend wave section by section, smoothing the cuticle down and letting the flexing plates do their work to gather the hair into place, creating a high shine base.
- Complete the top section keeping the pony flat. Comb through using a wide tooth comb then spray with dry finish wax spray to complete the look.
- To finish off the look use the Dyson Supersonic™️ Flyaway Attachment – which harnesses the Coanda effect to hide flyaways without extreme heat – it’s used to smooth any flyaways around the crown of the head.
