Just Cuts and the brand’s Stylists volunteered their time and skills to the 2024 Cut-a-Rama, raising $12,000 Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in this annual outing, and bringing the total money raised since the initiative began in 1990 to $800k overall. The event kicks off the kicks off the Outback Car Trek and ushers in donation boxes in salons every year.
The RFDS provides 24-hour aeromedical emergency services to country Australia, including delivering fly-in fly-out GP, Nursing and Allied Health Clinics to rural and remote communities. The RFDS is often the only geographical provider of health care services in these regions.

“We’ve supported the RFDS for years because hundreds of Just Cuts Stylists live and work in regional salons across Australia,” said Just Cuts Founder Denis McFadden. “The whole idea of Just Cuts supporting the RFDS was actually suggested by one of our salon owners many years ago and it’s still a cause close to our hearts.”
“We understand the need to fund the healthcare and emergency services the RFDS provide to support the communities that continue to support our small family-owned salons nationwide.”
This year, ten Just Cuts Bendigo Stylists cut, styled, coloured and sprayed hair for over 100 patrons at the Bendigo Bridge Hotel all night long on Saturday June 1 for Cut-a-Rama, bringing in donations for the cause. Just Cuts Bendigo owners Vicki and Graham Bird led the way in this endeavour.

These patrons then took part in the Outback Car Trek, which is an annual charity car rally that donates the funds it raises to The Royal Flying Doctor Service, also raising awareness of the disadvantages many Australians face in accessing the medical care. Nearly 100 cars departed Bendigo the morning after Cut-a-Rama for an eight-day drive over 3,900km that finished at Main Beach in Queensland on Sunday, June 9, using adapted vintage 2WD cars.
Denis joined this journey for his 25th Outback Car Trek, this year in the Just Cuts Cutmobile, alongside his Partner Jenny. The Cutmobile is a 1971 Ford with a roll cage, long range fuel tank and water carrying tank, and the vehicle boasted 5,700km in the drive to Bendigo and from Main Beach to Sydney.
Congratulations to Just Cuts on this fantastic initiative.
