While the Kao Salon Division congregates the global hairdressing community every year, COVID-19 continues to make these gatherings more difficult. As such, the savvy company has turned the event into a virtual experience, changing what would have been an event hosted in Amsterdam into one held on a fully digital platform.

“Despite the unprecedented challenges these last several weeks have presented to the salon industry, we, as a family, have found the ability to learn, adapt and rise side-by-side. We look forward to hosting industry professionals and our salon partners in this new digital experience for the very first time which will include dedicated brand experiences, education and our Global Creative Awards, showcasing next level creativity,” said John Moroney, VP Creative & Communication of Kao Salon Division.

The Goldwell Global Creative Awards will be moving forward as planned, with participations details still evolving. The deadline for entry has been adjusted, and submissions will be accepted from June 15 to July15 for Technical Categories, and July 31 for Editorial Categories. The company still hopes to host the competition itself with live hair creation, but if this is not possible the Technical Categories will be judged editorially via the images presented. The awards ceremony will be broadcast digitally, continuing the evolution and adaptation of the awards format.

” Kao Salon Division believes that creativity never stops and that this will be one of the factors that inspires our industry to rise again” John said. “This year, Kao Salon Division will be premiering The Global Creative Awards, replacing the company’s Color Zoom competition. The Global Creative Awards will offer an expanded number of opportunities to compete in both the Technical and Editorial categories.”

The company celebrates and hosts brands such as Goldwell, KMS and Oribe, and their penchant for innovation and problem solving will be in full force in this new modern format. Click on and join the community with Kao later in the year.
