Keune Celebrates 20th Australian Anniversary

In front of an audience of more than 500 people, Keune celebrated its 20th anniversary in Australia and New Zealand in style, writes Chloe Falivene.

At Sydney’s Hilton Hotel on June 7th, hundreds gathered to celebrate the international success of Keune, a leading supplier of professional hair cosmetics. After debuting in Amsterdam in 1922, Keune products are now available in more than 80 countries. The celebration honoured this legacy, and with 30 backstage crew members, 10 designers and sponsors, and almost 50 models, the spectacle was not to be missed.

Opening the show was the ‘True Beauty’ segment, during which four ballerinas performed pieces to accompany the pastel stylings of Keune’s own Roberto Tarla and Keune’s Global Ambassador Ilham Mestour. This was followed by ‘Inspired Gear’, with Daniel Yap of Tao Hair in Perth and Sam Han from Hong Kong completing an impressive 8 cuts in 8 minutes – complementing strong colours with sharp, geometric lines.

Later, the international phenomenon Georgy Kot from Keune Russia provided big entertainment with Avant Garde hair couture, 30 second costume changes and hair pieces made into swans and hearts. All work was complemented by designers Denisse M. Vera, Lolopeh, Pink Inc Shoes and Preston Zly shoes.

The spectacular after party, the 11th annual Keune Foundation Ball, took place at The Argyle in The Rocks, Sydney. Supporting families with children suffering from terminal illness, the Keune Foundation bore all the costs of the massive fundraiser.

Hundreds of drag queens rocked the pink carpet in line with the event’s theme, an homage to Australia and its favourite cult film, Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Big hair couture, grand headpieces and sparkling outfits brought out the best in attendees.

The Ball attracted over 1,300 supporters who helped raise over $40,000 for the Keune Foundation through ticket sales, corporate donations, raffle tickets, and silent auction.
