Two of Australia’s leading and most beloved hairdressers are uniting at Hair Festival 2025, as Lauren McCowan, of The Manuscript, and Jules Tognini, of HEDucation, present The Besties Tour, which they describe as “where chaos meets craft, curls meet cutting and two of the hair industry’s best and besties come together to make magic”.
The Education Session promises fun and inspiration as the duo showcase editorial and salon relevant styles from curls to blunt bobs, micro-detailing and beyond, all between laughs and the requisite roasts between best friends. You’ll learn usable cutting and styling techniques for curls and discover new trends from two of the industry’s most forward-thinking innovators.
You’ll also gain a front row seat to both Lauren and Jules’ education ventures. HEDucation is a new digital platform for cutting education that challenges the status quo of cutting. The Manuscript is an online archive of timeless styling techniques, ideal for salon and session stylists.

With the education and Q&A format, you’ll have learn from up close and personal education from these two storied hairdressers. Jules is the founder of Lil Off the Top, co-owner of the iconic Togninis salon in Brisbane and director of good times at evo, with a cult following and a candid, creative, unorthodox approach to hair and education. Jules is a multi-time winner of Australian Men’s Hairdresser of the Year and Educator of the Year and a regular backstage at Fashion Week. Jules has also created campaigns for Evo and is a renowned industry presence and pioneer who’s inspired a movement through his many projects and infectious personality.
Lauren is a globally recognised Creative Director, hair consultant, and award-winning stylist, having led creative direction, formulation, education, and content for brands such as Cloud Nine, Evo, Olaplex, Moroccanoil, K18, and Dyson and educated across the U.S., U.K., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand in live workshops, mentoring programs and presentations. Lauren has also directed hair at Australian and New York Fashion Weeks and had had her work and commentary showcased in Australian, US, UK and Russian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Rolling Stone, Interview, Russh, 10 Magazine, ELLE, NYLON and beyond. Celebrity clients include Kimbra, Gotye, Neil Patrick Harris, and Penn Badgley. Lauren has received a myriad of award nominations, including for AHFA Australian Hairdresser of the Year, and has developed products and education platforms for brands such as DunGüd, P.O.D. by ECOHEADS and O&M.
