Matrix Australia is opening its arms to its newest member, with Steve Corthine of Stevie English Hair set to shake up the trendy hair brand. With his colourful (pun intended) past working in London, the US and Asia in an impressive 20 year career, Steve will fit nicely with a brand that’s constantly looking to innovate and create.

Steve Corthine

Aside from being the creative director of his famous salon group, Steve is the resident hair expert for the Lifestyle TV Channel and contributes to Australian Women’s Health magazine, while his editorial images have been splashed across the pages of glossy magazines. Known mostly for his colour work, this year alone Steve has been a finalist for Australian Colourist of the Year at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFAs) and Colour Technician of the Year at the Hair Expo Awards, eventually winning People’s Choice at Hair Expo for his playful collection.

Steve looks forward to having access to high performance colour tools within his new role, as well as working with his good friend and the brand’s Creative Director, Uros Mikic. With these two, high-class education and cutting-edge creative work is certainly in store.

“I believe that people will change their hair colour more frequently and more dramatically,” Steve said of the upcoming colour trends, reinforcing the importance of colour care. “Variations of the balayage/ombré trend will endure and lighter ends will see many clients experimenting with pastels and brights. Expect to see the unexpected as consumers seek out brave new trends to express their individuality.”

With these bold new colour frontiers already happening and on the rise, Steve and Matrix are a match made in heaven. Stay tuned.
