Award-winning Adelaidian stylist Uros Mikic will take the reigns as Matrix Australia Creative Director, utilising his editorial eye and experience at his own salon Kinky Curly Straight to deliver fashion-forward aesthetics for the brand. Uros will join the rest of the Australian Design Team in this endeavour.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to creatively lead an iconic brand like Matrix as their Creative Director, and collaborate with the Australian Design Team to inspire new generations of stylists who love the Matrix brand and are eager to learn more, enhance their techniques and be at the forefront of innovative colours and styling products,” Uros said.
The appointment has been frenetic from the get-go, with Uros collaborating with the Global Matrix Creative Team in New York during October and November last year. He has proved quite the globe-trotter, representing Matrix in Bangkok at the Hairworld Awards Show and Destination Imagination in Spain.
“At Matrix, we pride ourselves on being a community brand built by a hairdresser for hairdressers,” said Matrix Australia General Manager, Alishia Smart said. “We see the role of Creative Director as not only an important role to our brand to bring creative inspiration, but it is also a role of collaboration and leadership. On our search for the ideal candidate we set out to find an individual who was as passionate and committed to the hairdressing industry as we are and most importantly, was dedicated to growing and developing all salons and stylists, regardless of skill level or salon size.”
Uros showcases these qualities faultlessly, starting with his strong commitment to education to the sustainability with which he runs his salon, his ability to push the creative envelope and in his extensive participation in industry events and competitions.
“Uros is one of the most dedicated and hardworking people I have ever met,” Alishia continues. “But what strikes me the most is his gentle nature, his humble and open approach, and complete dedication to the craft of hairdressing.”
Uros is poised for a big 2015 with his new title, between his clients and editorial work for Kinky Curly Straight and national and international education shows on behalf of Matrix.
With his passion and zest for the industry, we have no doubt on how he’ll manage his busy schedule.
You can see Uros in action at the Matrix Playground event at Salon Melbourne this Sunday night.
