Nothing says luxury like a private yacht departing from Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour with a brand like Dyspnea parading their extravagant resort wear line on board. The Opera House and Harbour Bridge provided the ideal backdrop to a collection of bold textures and neon hues, and Redken’s hair design, with lead direction by Marie Cain, was there to finish the party vibe, writes Adolfo Lopez-Serrano.
“We wanted something completely directional that showed the most iconic looks of the 90s, but with a modern take,” Marie explained. “The concept behind today’s show is basically a group of rebel friends walking into their high school prom, going wild.”
The models wore a diverse range of styles, including a variety of braids, wild ponytails, big curls, plenty of texture and wet styled hair that evoked the pop star glamour the 90s was famous for, with a grunge element added to it as well. Redken Forceful 23 once again proved the hero tool backstage. Bold, smudged lipstick, big, separated lashes and bright eyeshadow reminded us of our teenage years in the best and worst possible ways.
Seeing out the final day of Fashion Week in the height of mid-sea luxury, Dyspnea and Redken ensured every moment was fun, quirky, inspiring and Instagram-worthy. What more could you ask of a Fashion Week, High School prom, party hybrid?
