O&M Hair Director Koh Tanyawanichapong created cool, slicked back straight locks for Serpent & the Swan’s SS 15/16 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, writes Lucie Clark.
The show was held offsite at Precinct 75, an edgy industrial space, which set the tone for the androgynous, moody look of the mineral-inspired Serpent & the Swan collection. This inspiration was evident throughout, from the low-fi blue lighting, to the rock strewn catwalk centrepiece and the hair collaboration with Original Mineral.
A live performance by singer Sophia Brous provided the eerie soundtrack for the male and female models to parade the collection of unisex pieces down the catwalk. The collection included sheer, transparent dresses and pants featured alongside solid sweaters and tees in a palette of grey, black and white.
The “slicked back, cool, loose hairstyle that you can run your fingers through,” created by Koh, perfectly complemented the edginess of the collection. “It looks beautiful, effortless, like a girl from Bondi just got out of the shower,” he said.
The make-up was pared back, with gleaming, iridescent skin. Contrasting this, a number of models sported strong eyeliner, extending from the corner of the eye toward the hairline, reminiscent of the lines on a fossil.
