Redken golden boy, Rich Kavanagh kicked things off for the brand on day two, delivering a seventies style Brit-girl for Ginger and Smart.
“Fresh alive and clean” was how Kavanagh described his Ginger and Smart Resort 16/17 army – a killer start for hair on day-two with the incorporation of cotton thread and that delicate, pulled-out texture we know and love of Australian session work.
“She’s a British girl influenced by that suede-head subculture of the Seventies. A heavy fringe, little side burns and narrow silhouette tucked to the head,” defined Kavanagh.
The collection itself, Voyager set the bar sky high, a delightful display of musk metallic, sky blue and Monaco-ready off-shoulder swim suits punctuating relaxed lace tailoring. Cheerleader-style ruffles shook down the runway atop the Tectonic Raffia Slides (sure to prove a best seller) while a lower-body-skimming wide-brim hat delivered new meaning to ‘oversized.’
Meeting the space-bound brief beautifully, Richard cited Redken’s ROOTFUL 06 Root Lifting Spray as hero for his classically-cool style.
“ROOTFUL 06 enabled the team to create this airy touchable fullness and FASHION WORK 12 allowed workable hold for that effortless-cool texture every Australian woman desires,” he said.
Faby were on deck for nails, Nail Director Karon McKendrick-Taylor instigating a nude-show.
“Nail direction is inspired by the Ginger and Smart Resort 16/17 vision which is ‘looking down on earth from space.’ Toes are being painted with ‘Desert Rose,’ a great flesh colour, and then we’ve got ‘This is my Style’ which is a clear, crisp see-through tone on the fingernails,” Karon said.
