Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Oscar Oscar Pacific Fair has unveiled its exclusive new West Mall salon–amidst the state of the Art $670 million centre redevelopment, writes Cameron Pine.
Stepping foot into the new Pacific Fair is more than impressive – evolving from a purveyor of leading brands to a true luxury destination, you can see why the centre’s pink hibiscus flower on the Gold Coast Highway has evolved to a more city meets coastline aesthetic. Pacific Fair has long helped shape the economy of the area and if the new centre is anything to go by – the Gold Coast is booming.
In many ways the Gold Coast is re-instating much of its glamour that was personified in the 1980s, with a spate of new developments, the world’s best weather and a golden coastline like no other, attracting a new level of luxury, and Oscar Oscar salons are on board.
We’ve seen the gold bikini-clad meter maids come and go, the humble beach motels be replaced with marble-clad luxury residences and the entry of the some of the world’s leading luxury brands to the new Pacific Fair.
Emceed by the almost Richard Reid-esque Damien Anthony Rossi, the salon opening was an energetic affair with plenty of Gold Coast personality. It’s no wonder the majority of the Oscar Oscar group’s largest and leading salons have always been part of the Queensland playground – to Brisbane and beyond, they have the community following to match.
A very loyal and fashionable crowd set the scene at the official opening event, made up of media personalities, social influencers, salon business notable names and VIP salon guests. Guests were treated to sparkling champagne, delicious canapés from Byron Bay caterer Eat/Drink and indulgent gift bags featuring must-have products from Kérastase and ghd.
Following the welcome introduction, brand founder Oscar Cullinan thanked and welcomed guests and friends for not only supporting the brand but also celebrating the achievement of 15 years and a brand new salon in a location that has pure and simple re-instated luxury on the Gold Coast.
Step one foot into the new centre and it’s no wonder the new precinct has been dubbed the Gold Coast’s version of ‘New York’s 5th Avenue’. To coincide with such a luxe achievement the salon has employed ‘six-star finishes’ and the now renowned Oscar Oscar ‘retreat’ basin area – a dark, quiet and completely indulgent wing of the salon completely concealed from the salon floor.
“Pacific Fair was the first salon we opened on the Gold Coast in 2001 and we are thrilled to reset the benchmark we set 15 years ago, utilizing only the very best products and specializing in the latest cutting and colouring techniques,” Oscar said.
Not only is the salon eager to welcome back existing salon guests, many of whom have been coming to the salon for 15 years, they are also anticipating a new wave of local, interstate and international visitors too.
Surrounded by brands synonymous with style including Sass and Bide, Manning Cartell and Gorman – salon guests can now fuse both high-end shopping and the ultimate hair experience.
“This store here is the latest in our blueprint for an organic roll out of more stores across Australia. We expand in a very organic and safe manner.”
“Humbly I thank every one of you here tonight for supporting us – quite frankly this store is one of our most epic yet,” Oscar said.
In typical Oscar cheek, he had guests chuckling during his speech – testament to his love of the sexiness of hairdressing and passion for hair. “I’m confident that when people walk through the door they feel a little bit sexier and when they walk out they just want to take their clothes off,” Oscar said.
Thanking his invaluable General Manager Anne-Marie Mason, the newly hatched Gold Coast Pacific Fair crew, the family at L’Oreal Professional products division including Redken, Shu Uemura and Kerastase as well as his wife Portia – for their continued allegiance.
“We have a very successful salon at Robina, an amazing salon at Versace and I have no doubt this salon at Pacific Fair is going to be a salon of epic proportions,” Oscar said.
“Our business is all about people and good people are the cornerstone of what we do. “We’ve worked very closely with Redken and other brands to create a hairdressing experience like no other. Let me tell you this salon door is everything,” Oscar said.
As with all Oscar Oscar salons, an intimate and opulent surrounding is created through both lighting, marble finishes, a relatively monochromatic colour palette and premium fixtures and fittings. This salon is also one of the first to feature an incredible hair image almost the entire length of the back wall, created by Paloma Garcia – owner of the Oscar Oscar Paddington salon. Supportive brands and in-salon rituals from Shu Ueumura, Kérastase, Aveda and colour brand of choice Redken 5th Avenue NYC which Oscar said is ‘the best colour on the market hands-down’, complete the salon experience that needs to be seen to be believed.
First opening in Brisbane in 1989, Oscar Oscar salons span 15 locations across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
