Take out your laptop and settle in every Monday morning at 11am AEST where Que Academy host free 40 minute education sessions with a new topic every week.
Attendees can sign up at Digital.que.academy to receive the weekly Zoom link, adding some inspiration and a worthwhile activity to make lockdown days brighter.
“As an educator and salon owner, I needed a way to keep my team growing and connected throughout this lockdown period. We started with a live two hour education session on balayage, streamed live via Instagram and the idea grew from there,” said Monique McMahon, founder of Que Academy, Que Colour.
The initiative was born from Monique’s first Instagram Live session, which generated over 1000 views, inspiring Monique to further fulfill this need in the industry and connect with members of the hair community across the screen through lockdown. Moving to Zoom for ease and efficiency, the free weekly classes were officially born.
The sessions have provided some much needed interaction, education, connection and consistency through lockdown, while the live format encourages attendees to contribute via the chat box through the sessions and through live Q and A segments at the end.
Sessions often start with a look back at the previous week’s topic and a discussion around the past week, while the 40 minute session is then filled with salon relevant techniques and education. The sessions also often welcome international guests to share their expertise as well.
The format is designed for industry members at every level, and can be used by salon owners to keep teams connected in this time, where they can later break off afterwards into their own chat rooms to discuss the content. It’s also ideal for individual hairdressers and freelancers, to grow their skills and embrace the connectivity of the industry at its best.
