Set in Sydney’s Mosman, Benicky & Sons Barbershop has a distinct style that truly transports clients, as well as transforming them.
The style of the Mosman space is reminiscent of a 1930s to 1940s era, upper-class whiskey bar, and speakeasy. With dark brown wooden tones, a giant custom made secret bookshelf door and 1920s to 1940s era original antique barber chairs imported from the US. All finishes and fixtures are premium with no expense spared. It’s a place that will age gracefully and somewhere with a warm homely feel more of an experience of stepping back in time, rather than clean cut modern finishes.
“We all wear a 1920s era custom replica uniform that we get from London to make sure clients feel like they’re getting taken care of by a professional and I believe it shows we care about brand imagery and experience from when you first look at us – we want to stand out,” said salon owner Luke Benicky.
Any person who comes through the door is greeted with a beverage of their choice, such as whiskey, rum, gin, beer or coffee, free of charge.
“Once again, experience and service is everything to us, to humbly and gratefully serve our fellow man, no matter title or rank,” Luke said.
Beyond the aesthetic, the community and services set the salon apart. The wide majority of haircuts usually fit into a classic category, side parts and short, choppy, textured haircuts, based on the demographic of clientele around the suburbs in the Lower North Shore. The shop provides straight razor shaves with facials included and beard shaping.
“We do our best to ensure every client that comes through the door is welcomed like family. We bring a positive vibe and upbeat demeanour so everyone leaves the shop feeling better than when they walked in and not just because they have a fresh trim. As a barber, I want to make everyone around me have a better day and be that source of light in their life. In saying this, I end up getting so much from my clients too,” Luke said.
“Everyone has something to teach you, and I receive blessings on blessings from people who sit in my chair every single day. I’m forever grateful for my clientele for being with me for so long and also to the ones who have just come on board with me. I treat them with love, humility and enthusiasm to keep them coming back! It’s the relationship you build with your clients that well and truly goes beyond just a haircut.”
Classic in evert sense of the word. Go back in time with Benicky & Sons.
