Salon Purpose is celebrating five years of their charity driven salon and has also passed the milestone of $100,000 in charitable donations within their many important endeavours.
The salon partners with philanthropic initiatives and hosts an annual two-week ‘With Love’ campaign, which donates $25 from every service to a range of client-picked causes. Founded by Nicki Ranatawake, philanthropy, sustainability and kindness are embedded into every facet of the business, which is located on Sydney’s North Shore.

For 2025, this year’s With Love campaign centred on Water Well Repairs in Northern Uganda, Safe, Supported Maternity Care, which also helps women in Northern Uganda and Domestic Violence Healing Workshops for First Nations Women.
“When I started Salon Purpose in the middle of a COVID lockdown, I dreamed of building more than just a salon,” Nicki shared. “I wanted to create a business that would make a positive impact – both in the salon and beyond. To now have passed $100,000 in charitable donations in just five years is absolutely surreal. It’s proof that beauty and impact can, and should, coexist. This milestone only strengthens my belief that purpose-led business isn’t just possible, it’s powerful.”
The salon’s charitable partnerships include Pro Purpose, a nonprofit organisation that helps businesses align with charitable ventures, and as a ‘One Chair One Child’ initiative, which sponsors a child in Uganda for every chair in the salon and is currently at eight sponsored children.
The salon also has provided over 3000 people with clean water in Africa and 400 nights of safe housing for families experiencing homelessness. It has donated 53 birthing kits for mothers and newborns in Uganda, funded 190 days of domestic violence healing journeys and supported 18 start up loans for women in Asia to open their own business.

Salon Purpose also proudly partners with Sustainable Salons to reduce their impact on the planet and invest in local communities, with $3 directed towards sustainability efforts for every appointment. The salon also has 0 per cent general waste with waste instead recycled and repurposed.
Built to harness the power of hairdressing into a positive impact, the salon makes use of Nicki’s 22 years in hairdressing to both thrive and give back. The salon has been nominated for and won a range of awards, from local to national business platforms and beyond. Pillars of intentional generosity and positive influence underpin the salon, making an important change and inspiring in the industry at large.
Congratulations to Salon Purpose on this incredible achievement!
