Salons Asked to Raise Money for Starlight: How Can You Be Involved?

The Australian Hairdressing Council (AHC) and Scott Sloan of Sloans of Lane Cove are putting on a fundraising event, and there is ample opportunity for you to participate. The Salon Select Smiles for Starlight initiative aims to imbue a modicum of joy and fun into the lives of Australia’s sick kids, and salons are being asked to join in to make that happen.

In support of Starlight Day on the 1st of May, this event is aiming to raise $65 000, enough to grant ten wishes for ill children. The amount of hope, laughter and light these wishes bring to these sick kids can’t be overstated, which is why it’s fortunate stylists have been given the opportunity to be involved.

In the Salon Select Smiles for Starlight initiative, salons are being asked to add $1 to the price of every customer service during the month of May, which will then be donated to the cause. Participating salons will be provided with all the marketing material required to engage clients and successfully support their own campaign in-salon, across social media and through local press.

“My team and I have been working with Starlight for the last 4 years, and we know firsthand how amazing the experience is,” said Scott, the pioneer of Starlight’s successful Pop-up Salon initiative. “There are so many children in need of some sparkle at children’s hospitals around Australia and this is the hair industry’s chance to show that we care. This year we hope the AHC can raise enough to grant 10 wishes. Next year? The sky is the limit.”
