Centred on rituals, luxe beauty and Japanese culture, it was only a matter of time before Shu Uemura joined forces with the apex of Japanese luxury – tea. A new limited edition collaboration with Australia’s own Matcha Maiden tea seems the perfect fit, with Matcha debuting a tea blend directly inspired by the hair brand, to be served during their Japanese-inspired hair treatments.
The new Shu Uemura Limited Edition Matcha blend of tea has been specifically blended by Matcha Maiden, harnessing pure stone ground green tea and marine collagen that improve general wellbeing and, believe it or not, hair health, strength and growth.
This blend is made to complement Shu Uemura’s extensive, natural product range and will be served during the brand’s iconic hair ceremonies. Shu Uemura’s hair ceremonies have always drawn on Japanese cultural elements, such as shiatsu massage and ritualistic practices that mirror Japanese tea ceremonies. The updated service menu includes a quick instant beautification treatment, a longer indulgence treatment, a deep cleanse treatment, enhanced shine treatment and the all-new Garden of Eden treatment. This is a 25 minute ceremony that features one of the Master Serums, selected based on each guest’s individual hair needs.
“Like the Japanese tea ceremony, Shu Uemura’s hair Ceremonies encompass the values of harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity,” shared Shu Uemura Art of Hair National Marketing Manager Alexandra Shadbolt. “Now our guests can relax during their Ceremony treatment with our Limited Edition Matcha – bringing harmony and balance to the hair, mind and body.”
Echoing Shu Uemura’s focus on natural beauty, health and Japanese culture, Matcha tea is made from 100 per cent pure organic tea leaves, boasting 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea. The blend can also be used to create other healthy protein balls, cakes and beverages.
“Working with an iconic, globally respected brand such as Shu Uemura Art of Hair is a milestone for Matcha Maiden,” Matcha Maiden founders Sarah Holloway and Nic Davidson enthused. “Mr. Shu Uemura himself was a ground-breaking creative talent so it is exciting for Matcha Maiden to be in such incredible company, bringing Japanese traditions to new audiences.”
Shu Uemura salons will offer this brew for a limited time, promoting health, wellbeing and good hair from the inside out.
