The competition built to discover the wealth of talent by Australia’s country hairdressers is back, and the myriad of dynamic opportunities on offer could be yours. Star Spot Opportunity, coordinated by acclaimed editorial service Hair Shots 2 The World, is offering mentorship with five of Australia’s biggest stylists for the winner of each state search.

The competition is now in its fourth year and prides itself on developing hairdressing talent from all corners of the country. “Experiences like photo shoots, fashion parades and city in-salon work are rarely accessible to hairdressers from regional areas, so the purpose of the Star Spot Opportunities is to help talented country hairdressers broaden their skills and inspire new ideas,” said Leanna Cutler of Hair Shots 2 The World.

“We have had 10 successful recipients over the past three years who have entered awards for the first time, had collections published worldwide, gained their first session experiences and made amazing contacts in the process,” Leanne explained.

This year the mentorships are as enticing forever. The NSW winner will assist award-winning hairstylist Kobi Bokshish on a photo shoot, and three Queensland winners will assist backstage at the Ekka Fashion Parades with Carole Haddad. The South Australian candidate will spend a day with Kristy Hodgson in salon or backstage, while the Victorian winner will assist backstage at a Lorna Evans event with the acclaimed long hair stylist. Lastly the Western Australian winner will assist as a photo shoot with stylist, educator and Creative Director, Simone Lee. Entrants can nominate their state of choice, even if it is not their home state.
