Sustainable Salons is continuing its eco-friendly Australian takeover, expanding into South Australia with notable SA salons Kinky Curly Straight and Lush Hair pioneering the environmental-focused program in the state.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Sustainable Salons Australia launch in South Australia,” shared Mojca Bizjak-Mikic, Co-owner of Kinky Curly Straight. “When we opened five years ago, sustainability and environmental consciousness was at the forefront of who we are and what we wanted to be known for. Having the Sustainable Salons program in place now provides our salon with a full 360-degree approach in terms of recycling and reusing because it makes that loop from recycling to community support. Everyone at Kinky Curly Straight is so proud to be a flagship salon for this incredible program in SA, and we hope to inspire consumers and salon owners alike to sign up and make a true difference in the war on waste.”
This makes five states/territories total for Sustainable Salons Australia, with NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD and now SA having access to the growing platform. New staff member Emma Hefferan will be at the helm of Sustainable Salons’ South Australian operation. The company collects up to 95 per cent of participating salons’ waste bins, redirecting the material for reuse and recycling. All proceeds from this recycling process are donated to the charity OzHarvest, while useful savings are made for the salon as well.
The organisation’s rapid expansion is geographically based on which salons request the service, and the company’s Co-Founders, Paul Frasca and Ewelina Soroko, have their eye on Western Australia and regional areas as they continue their efforts to make the Australian salon industry increasingly sustainable.
Salons interested in joining the program should visit www.sustainablesalons.com/contact/ and leave their details; the Business Development Manager in their area will be in contact directly.
