Sydney International Spa and Beauty Expo 2014

Australia’s largest spa and beauty event, the Sydney International Spa and Beauty Expo, is back for another year in 2014. Held over two days on Saturday 23rd August and Sunday 24th August, the expo is the perfect opportunity to source the latest beauty products, treatments, ideas and equipment, writes Ruth Cooper.

For the first time, the expo will be held at the new Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island, with more than 250 brands expected, including leading industry names such as International Beauty Supplies, Napoleon Perdis, Caron Laboratories, Mancine, Young Blood, BioLink, Switch Funky, BioSculpture and Pacific Nail.

Along with the Medi Spa Arena, Wellness, New Business and Meet the Expert Zones, a new Medi-Stage will be set up to showcase leading treatments and cosmeceutical innovations. On the Main Stage, live demonstrations, fashion and nail shows will provide non-stop inspiration from celebrity artists such as Dale Dorning, Michael Brown and Rae Morris.

Back for a third year is the invaluable Business Leaders Summit. This years theme, “How Will the World Remember You?,” will feature a selection of high profile speakers to discuss how to elevate your salon or spa’s business performance to new heights.


The expo also features an extensive education line-up including: An Insight into Male Skincare with Dermalogica; Bridal Hair and Makeup; and a hands-on look at eyebrow threading.

If all that isn’t enough, this year will also see the introduction of a Medi Conference, reflecting the growing interest in the world of Medi. This half-day event will offer an informative discussion on how you can integrate medi-based treatments into your salon’s services.

The expo wouldn’t be complete without the prestigious Face2Face Makeup and Nail Awards, which will be presented at a glamorous awards night dinner on the Saturday evening.

The Face2Face Makeup Awards recognise the very best Australian makeup talent, while nail artists will have the chance to compete on an international platform, as Nailympia comes to Australian shores.

According to Amelia Coote-Harris, Sydney International Spa and Beauty Expo Event Director, the expo has something for everyone. “Whether it’s education, brands or talent, the Sydney International Spa and Beauty Expo is constantly developing,” she said.

“This year, amongst an array of fresh features – including an increased focus into the worlds of wellness and medi-based treatments – visitors will not only be provided with a one-stop-shop to the latest products and services, but also be able to gain invaluable knowledge on how to successfully tap into these two rapidly growing markets.”
