With a trend towards a more holistic approach to skin wellness by combining advanced modalities rather than cosmetic injections alone, we’ve spoken to Sydney’s leading cosmetic medical facility in Sydney about the latest buzz words in the forever advancing world of beauty, writes Cameron Pine.
Founded by Doctor Steven Liew and completely refurbished in 2023 to better reflect the brand’s leading stance in the industry, Shape Clinic is highly recognised within the aesthetics world as a centre for excellence, and all the latest technologies that come with it. Staying ahead of the curve in the industry with the latest modalities and combination treatments to continue to innovate the beauty industry Dr Liew says is the cornerstone to the brand’s long-lasting success.
We take a look at the top three fresh new treatments that can offer long-lasting results beyond that of traditional injectables and treatments alone – think bone marrow and ‘salmon sperm’. In some cases it’s very much about accelerating cells with active ingredients the body is designed to respond to.

Nonsurgical regenerative aesthetics medicine
This is a type of treatment with an injectable approach, with the aim of promoting a healthy cellular environment for the body to lay down more collagen and elastin within the skin. The result is a healthier firmer, skin texture and skin glow that offers long-lasting radiance to the skin.
The two regenerative products in conversation are Rejuran, which is a poly nucleotide or DNA fragment injectable derived from salmon reproductive organs – in short ‘Salmon Sperm’. The results are newfound levels of luminosity and, used in a package of two to three treatments, the skin’s regenerative processes are highly accelerated. With this treatment patients can see an overall improvement in the lower eyelid skin which is prone to wrinkles, dryness and dark circles. It is also good for skin texture and reduces the discoloration of lower eyelid skin.
The other regenerative product that is very popular worldwide is Exosomes. Exosomes essentially consists of cellular information that the body uses to communicate with each other. It is derived either from plant or from human bone marrow. Its function is to improve the area of tissue treated and lay down more collagen and elastin so that the skin texture overall has a healthier, brighter and firmer tissue. It is particularly useful following or in combination with needling, radiofrequency and laser therapy and what’s even better is that the results get better with time.
Laser skin treatments
Laser skin treatments continue to surge in popularity offering less downtime and, in many cases, better results than traditional treatments. Specifically, a combination treatment with Emface and the new Ultra former are surging in popularity. At Shape Clinic they aptly call it the Tight and Lift treatment for those searching for the ultimate results to do exactly that.
Ultraformer is based on superficial ultrasound to treat several layers in the skin. Using sophisticated macro and micro focused ultrasound technology, it rejuvenates all three critical levels of the skin’s infrastructure, causing tightening of the skin and is particularly good for the lower face, the neck and eyelids.
Emface is also moving up the ranks as a state-of-the-art machine where electrical energy is being used to stimulate the uplifting muscles in the face. This improves the muscle tone and as a result, creating a much brighter, more open eye appearance as well as a lift in the cheek area and reduction the downturn of the face and lips. Think of it as a gym workout for your face!
CO2 laser treatments
CO2 laser treatments fall under the guise of a laser resurfacing process to completely refresh the skin’s surface instantly. This treatment aims to improve the appearance of the skin by removing the top layer and stimulating the formation of new skin cells. The laser generally emits a highly concentrated wavelength of energy and water within the skin cells absorbs this type of wavelength, resulting in the ablation of the superficial layer of the skin.
Shape Clinic’s new Deka laser machine can produce what they call a Laser Cool peel. This is a very gentle skin conditioning treatment that provides a quick, glowing glass skin treatment with virtually no downtime. Not only this but CO2 laser can treat sun damage, wrinkles, scarring, warts, birthmarks and other skin conditions by providing unparalleled results and a sublimely even skin tone for those seeking the best skin condition possible.
Staying on top of skin is as much about the technology and ingredients as it is trusting the practitioner. The industry is rapidly progressing along from traditional laser treatments and injectables alone, proving that staying up to date with the latest trends and combining treatments to suit the lifestyle you want will ensure a newfound level of confidence in these treatments.
