The Australian Hairdressing Council (AHC)’s Select Salon Success Business Forum became something of a self-fulfilling prophecy, delivering with the very success mentioned in its title.
Held last week on March 14 at the TONI&GUY Academy, a room filled with salon owners were treated to a full-day workshop that covered a myriad of topics relevant to the industry. Those that weren’t actually present in the room joined the proceedings via live streaming platform liveED, watching the speakers and even submitting questions to be answered in real time (the future is truly now). And if you have considerable FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) from what went on (and believe us, you should), not to worry – liveED has archived each individual presentation to be viewed at your leisure, right there on site.
The inspiring presenters and range of topics were impressively varied. TONI&GUY’s Dennis Langford began the agenda, talking through his own journey with a humorous survey of the industry and what it takes to be successful in hair.
Other sessions included Hayley Mears of Underground Media who talked social media and marketing for salons, and Justin Herald of ReferUs, a client referral program designed to harness the power of word of mouth to obtain salon clients, who presented how to do just that. Then The Real Business Group’s Tracey Daniel showcased essential accounting basics, decoding the mysteries behind KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and P&L’s (profits and losses) in relation to the salon.
Photographer David Mannah provided his editorial advice, while Stephanie Howe of Vodafone finished the day with a seminar on Dropbox for Small Business.
The Select Salon Success workshop was just the latest in the AHC’s series of inspirational seminars, cultivated specifically for the Australian Hair Industry to ensure its growth. Keep a lookout through 2016 as many more follow – and until then check out what you missed on liveED.
