Shoreditch Town Hall was the UNITE Global Session destination of choice this year, as the brand invaded the area for this annual highlight event. 16 international artists and a 300-strong audience spell a bona fide takeover.
Opened and compered by UNITE CEO and founder, Andrew Dale, alongside newly-appointed Director of Business Education UK, David Drew, the Global Session was headlined by a special Keratin Complex Color Therapy showcase, amidst other visual presentations.
UNITE Senior Art Directors David Fletcher and Estevan Garner, as well as session stylist Nawad Kutowaroo opened the session, with looks that utilised shape and structure as focal points. Gary Baker, Simon Izzard and Jan Przemyk then took to the stage to show off editorial looks, short hair and technically transient looks to the enthralled crowd.
The Keratin Complex Color Therapy Session, presented by International Art Director Deborah Gavin, was a highlight in both its technical prowess and its presentation of models along the colour spectrum. After this, Natasha Pearson and Karine Jackson showcased red carpet styling, while Fredrik Karlsson and Matthias Laveson utilised headpieces to fully realise their latest collection live on stage.
UNITE European Art Director Daniel Jordan, along with Jason Liddiard and Estevan Garner delivered their own takes on modern inspired cutting, including precision cuts and punk looks. Closing the event, Inanch Emir, Natasha Pearson, Gary Baker and Salon F&M presented glam couture avant-garde, conflicting textures, braiding, hair extensions and more in the show-stopping finale.
“Education is the key to developing your work and my view was always to invest in creating a show that united our artists to come together and share their knowledge and learn from each other,” explained Andrew Dale. “Global Session London has been incredible and we now look forward to San Diego in 2016.”
Artistry aside, business was a focal point with the Paramount Business 2 session, hosted by Andrew, and the continuation of the UNITE business development program. Education was also pivotal to the event, with Look and Learn sessions offered at satellite locations.
